A Master’s in International Relations (IR) in India is a postgraduate programme that delves into the dynamics of global politics, diplomacy, international law, security studies, and international economics. It provides a deep understanding of how states, organisations, and global actors interact, cooperate, or engage in conflict.
This degree is designed for students who wish to understand and contribute to global issues such as conflict resolution, climate change, migration, international law, and geopolitical strategy. In India, such programmes are increasingly interdisciplinary, incorporating elements of law, business, economics, and political science. The M.A. in Diplomacy, Law and Business (MADLB) at JSIA is one of the few programmes offering this level of breadth and international exposure.
Choosing to pursue a Master’s in IR in India offers several distinct advantages:
Indian universities such as JSIA offer globally competitive education at a fraction of the cost of Western institutions.
Students gain comprehensive exposure to international relations while also studying India’s foreign policy, regional security issues, and diplomatic practices.
Programmes like JSIA’s combine rigorous theory with internships, policy projects, simulations, and fieldwork to prepare students for high-impact roles.
With visiting professors and strong tie-ups for study abroad, students get a global experience while studying in India.
Graduates are well‑equipped for roles in the Indian Foreign Service, diplomatic missions, international NGOs, and multilateral institutions.
This degree is particularly well‑suited for individuals who:
Aspect | International Relations | Political Science |
Focus | Diplomacy, foreign policy, international law | Government systems, ideologies, public administration |
